Gary Chapman: CONSTRUCTIONS
The CONSTRUCTION Series stems from Chapman’s interest in linear perspective, structure, and architecture. The drawings which consist of two distinctly different panels, reveal his interest in contrasting two forms of structure found in nature, the grid which consists of uniformly parallel and perpendicular lines, and the other which appears more freeform or organic.
Gary Chapman is known primarily as a conceptually driven, figurative, oil painter, with 14 of his paintings purchased for the permanent collection of 11 museums of art. These drawings stand uniquely apart from his larger body of work.
