A Confluence of Rivers (2020)
Take a closer look at these works through our virtual tour.
Rivers, streams, bogs, and ponds have always carried deep meaning for humankind. From being the sites of meditation and sacred worship, as well as the highway for trade and travel, they were life-sustaining for all cultures. In the modern world, we grow distant from these quiet sites and the rivers are often clogged with pollution. In my paintings, I attempt to infuse hope and remembrance of the importance of this natural world, for water is my symbol of peace and harmony. The Cahaba River runs behind my studio like an old friend and I see that flowing water as a conduit for the waterways around the world…. past, present, and future.
This exhibition contains painting both on canvas and paper, some created this past year, and some over the past two decades. Many have images on both sides. Water runs through them all.
