Airport Artway Reception featuring Sonya Clemons

Join us to celebrate the new installation in the Airport Artway of paintings by Sonya Clemons, the “Alabama Art Lady,” on Tuesday, August 29 from 5 to 7 p.m.

Refreshments will be served. The reception is free and open to the public. Parking is free for the first 30 minutes.

Artwork created by Pictures of Hope participants is featured on the Community Artwall. Pictures of Hope is an art program that artist, Sonya Clemons, developed in May of 2017, as Resident Artist for the Jackson County Drug court,presided over by Judge John Graham. It provides free art classes for Drug Court, Family Wellness Court and anyone in or supporting the Recovery Community.

Singer-songwriter Matt Prater will perform original music during the reception. His albums, “Small Town Son” (2010), “The Mountain” (2013), “Tables and Chairs” (2015), “Same Ole Highway Blues” (2017), “Ain’t Life A Trip” (2021) and numerous recent single releases are filled with stories of family, poetry, humble beginnings, honky tonk tales and Southern American tradition.
