Brooke Hill Run For Awareness
The morning kicks off with The Brooke Hill Run. In 2001 Brooke Hill was a civic-minded wife, mother, business woman, and the president of the Decatur Arts Council helping to raise funds for the planned Carnegie Visual Arts Center. Tragedy struck when she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Prior to her passing in 2004, she asked her family and friends to bring awareness to and raise funds for ovarian cancer research. Participation in the annual Brook Hill Run for Awareness helps this cause.
The 5K and 1 mile courses are both certified. The 5K start time is 8 AM followed by the 1 mile at 9:15 AM. Race day registration is from 6:30 AM -7:45 AM for the 5K and until 8:45 AM for the 1 mile. Registration forms are available at the Carnegie Visual Arts Center. For more race information contact Jon Elmore at 256-351-7426 or jklca5@charter.net

Move to Larger Venue
For the past eight years the ArtWalk Festival has been a street festival, adjacent to the Carnegie Visual Arts Center on both sides of Oak Street. This year we are moving to Founder’s Park one block away in front of the Old State Bank. The lovely green area will allow us to expand the event, and offer room for attendees to bring blankets or lawn chairs to relax and enjoy the day. We have also added a Beverage Tent where adults may purchase wine or beer to sip in the shade while listening to cool tunes.

Music Line Up
Also expanded is our musical presentations. From seasoned professionals to up-and-coming musicians, a variety of excellent music will be presented. Bands will perform from a stage, and professional audio production will be provided by Audio Video by Design. This year’s entertainment will be Decatur Youth Symphony Chamber Orchestra, Andy Asteroids, Kinvara, Sophisticated Swingers, Kim Stone, Main Street Blues Band, BarnStormers, Bill Jehle’s Nadaband.
