August 16 – September 24, 2016 — Embracing Art : A Coming Together of Area Amateur & Professional Artists was the inaugural exhibition at the Carnegie Visual Arts Center in 2003. The 14th annual show now commemorates the opening of the Carnegie Visual Arts Center as a place of art for all people, and celebrates the creative spirit of Decatur, Alabama. The exhibit includes works in multiple media including pencil, watercolor, oil, acrylic, clay, and mixed media. The Art Selection Committee chose artists to be included in the exhibit from their submitted applications including photographs of up to two pieces of their art. The Exhibit Judge, Aaron Head of Lowe Mill Arts in Hunstville, Alabama awarded Best of Show, 2nd, and 3rd place winners and a number of Honorable Mention awards from the 66 piece exhibit. Directors Choice winner was also selected by Kim Mitchell , Executive Director of the Carnegie Visual Arts Center. Winners will be announced at the Artists Reception on September 21st.
