Introducing the Catch & Release Bead Recycling Program

The Carnegie Visual Arts Center, in conjuction with the Decatur High School Developmental Program, will collect and recycle the thrown beads from previous Carnegie Carnival parades. We ask everyone who has “caught” beads to “release” them to be recycled.

DHS Developmental Program students and volunteers will wash, sort, and repackage the beads to make the beads available for resale at an economical price. The beads will be on sale at the Carnegie Visual Arts Center starting in January 2019. All proceeds from the sale of the beads will benefit the DHS Developmental Program.

We are excited that this partnership will provide moderately-priced beads for Carnegie Carnival parades, is environmentally friendly, and will benefit an excellent education program of the Decatur City Schools.

Beads may be dropped off November 1, 2014 – January 16, 2015 at the the following Decatur locations during their regular operating hours:

Carnegie Visual Arts Center

207 Church Street, NE

Albany Bistro

1051 Grant Street, SE

Pool Doctors

1207 Central Parkway, SW
