Building Repair Final Phase

The exhibition galleries will be closed January 10 – 28, 2012 for wall repair and January 31 – February 4, 2012 for exhibit installation. We will reopen with a special exhibit on Tuesday, February 7, 2012.
In the heat of the July, MG Roofing Incorporated began the repairs to our leaky building. They dug a “moat” to waterproof our basement walls and improved the site drainage. Brick by brick they tested, repaired, and replaced 107 year old mortar, and sealed the exterior walls. They reworked our roof so it drained properly and not down the sides of the building. They replace rotten water-damaged exterior window trim. They are now crowning the Carnegie with a solid stainless steel alloy roof that will insure that the next roof replacement will not be in our lifetime. Thank you MG Roofing for your outstanding work.
We have continued to host lovely exhibits, fun events, and exciting education programs through all of the repair work the last seven months. However the last phase of construction calls for repairing interiors damaged by water intrusion requiring us to close the upstairs galleries for a very short period of time.
Business offices will be open regular hours as we are busy woring on our spectacular 2012 exhibit and event schedule. Classes in the downstairs Daikin America Education Center will continue as scheduled. There is no Fri.@5 scheduled for January 20th, but please be ready to gather with your Carnegie friends again on February 17th!
